They’ve all got their pros and cons, so try a few out and see what suits your own particular mycological style. MIllet has lots of vitamins and minerals in it (just like Cinnamon Grahams), including phosphorous, magnesium, folate, and iron. We wash it, then we soak for 24 hours, then we simmer it for a little bit. This makes sure that the grain is a bit easier for the mycelium to access, and helps the rye absorb a bit more moisture. We then put it into either a 4T or a 10T Unicorn bag, depending on how big you want it, and we pressure cook it for 2.5hrs at 15psi so that anything nasty that might have been in there is as dead as fuck. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhy choose rye for your mushroom grow? We’d still start off with a bag of grain, for sure (cramming the nutrients and water into the mycelium), and then transfer into this once your grain is colonised, because pound-for-pound there’s a lot more available nutrients in grain.
